My research focuses on the physic-chemical characterization of clays and their valorization in geomedicine, ceramics and in the removal of pollutants, such as heavy metals and dyes. I am interested in environmental problems caused by poor management of organic and mineral industrial wastes, and I try to find sustainable solutions to these problems by reusing the wastes in the context of a circular economy. Currently I work on recycling industrial and mining clay-rich wastes in the manufacturing of ceramics and particularly lightweight aggregates.
