Dr. Sonia Gannouni is an Associate Professor and researcher at the Laboratory of Geo-Resources (LGR), Centre for Water Research and Technologies (CERTE, Tunisia). Her research expertise focuses on geomatics, remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial analysis and environmental modelling, with particular emphasis on sustainable water and soil resources management. Her research activities involve the integration of satellite observations, geospatial technologies, statistical approaches and machine learning techniques to investigate environmental processes and assess natural resource dynamics. Her main research interests include land use and land cover changes, soil salinization and degradation, groundwater quality, agricultural water management, environmental monitoring and spatial multi-criteria decision analysis. She has contributed to several research studies and scientific collaborations addressing environmental and water resource challenges in Tunisia. Her academic activities also include supervising engineering and master’s students, contributing to scientific publications and developing innovative geospatial approaches to support environmental assessment and sustainable resource management.
