The ATGr promotes the geosciences in many ways, ranging from organizing scientific meetings to publishing scientific journals and books.
ATGr’s vision is to be among the premier geological society supporting the global community in scientific discovery, communication, and the application of geoscience knowledge. To achieve this vision, it is imperative that we, as ATGr Members, adhere to the highest ethical standards in all of our professional activities.
This Code applies to ATGr Members as defined in the ATGr Amended and Restated Bylaws as currently in effect and as may be amended in the future (the “Bylaws”). ATGr Members include Honorary Fellows, Fellows, Members, or Affiliates. Pursuant to the Bylaws, all Members must comply with this Code as a condition of ATGr Membership.
Members, upon admission, commit to the principles set out in the Code of Ethics and reconfirm that commitment each year when renewing their membership subscription. All members should familiarize themselves with the Code of Ethics and any other codes relevant to their profession, as members have an obligation to ensure that the codes are properly observed by their colleagues in order to retain and build on the trust and positive reputation that we have as a collective of scientists and professionals.
-We will comply with the Code and related policies;
-We will cooperate to the best of our ability if asked to take part in an investigation of an allegation of a Code violation; and
-We will not represent ourselves as a spokesperson for the Society without express authorization by the President and Executive Director of ATGr.
3. Events Code of Conduct
* Applicability
The Events Code of Conduct (the “Events Code”) applies to all ATGr events, including meetings, field trips, short courses, mentorships, and other ATGr-supported programs. The Events Code also applies to individuals who submit abstracts and make presentations at oral or poster sessions. All registrants, speakers, session chairs, guests, volunteers, exhibitors, ATGr staff, service providers, and others in attendance are expected to abide by this Events Code.
In addition, ATGr members, affiliate members, fellows, honorary fellows, and any non-member who participates in a ATGr program or activity must comply with ATGr Code of Ethics. ATGr-sponsored programs and activities include, but are not limited to, ATGr meetings, publications, as well as appointed, elected, and volunteer positions.

– If a presenter or session chair indicates that photographs of slides or poster are not allowed, honor this preference.
